Mariscal Canyon entrance, Rio Grande, Big Bend National Park, Texas. 8 December 2011. The long-standinig drought has taken it’s toll on the once wide Rio Grande.

Another beautiful winter sunset in Terlingua. 12 December 2011 44 degrees with an almost solid cloud cover except that opening to the western horizon.

11 December 2011 Terlingua Sunset. 45 degrees. That means that Mauro, the cat gets to stay warm and cozy in the office. It also means that sometimes when he’s not given his choice of food, I get dirty stares.

Tour of BBNP River Road West to River Road East, 12/8/11. Our tour began at Big Bend Resort & Adventures before sunrise and ended upon our return to BBRA at 9pm. It was a full day but well worth the adventure. We encountered a beautiful sunrise, some roadrunners, a great spot for having lunch, horses, abandoned farm ruins, an abandoned mercury mine, and a guide that endured our constant laughter, jokes, and frequent requests for photography stops.

7 December 2011 Just Another Terlingua Sunset to warm up the cold day. Outside of Big Bend National Park, TX.
Fire in the Sky, Terlingua, TX 3 December 2011 As seen from the Y. It was a gorgeous day today with the temps in the 70s.
A bit of Puerto Rico in the West Texas desert. Raoul prepared Mofongo, a Puerto Rican dish. I kept asking about it until he finally made it this afternoon. It was delicious. I thought it would taste like bananas but it didn’t. It tasted more like a potato dish. I probably would like if it tasted a bit sweeter and more like the platanos I was accustomed to eating while living in Honduras. Try it.
